Pavilion returns to public service
North Furzton Pavilion is open for business! We are incredibly excited to reopen the doors at long last, providing a new venue for parties, community groups and businesses.
Our Facilities and Warden Teams have worked tirelessly to strip out and refit the pavilion’s insides, replacing everything from the wiring to the flooring, and realigning internal walls to create a bigger, better and more versatile space. Amongst other improvements, we have replaced windows and doors, fitted a new kitchen and heating system, resurfaced block paving, added security lights, cameras and alarm, and installed fencing to protect the building from damage.
The bulk of the renovations have been carried out by skilled Parish Council staff with decades of professional experience, assuring a high standard of workmanship while keeping costs under control.
When the Parish Council took ownership of North Furzton Pavilion in December 2021, it had already fallen into disrepair. While the changing rooms for footballers were still in use, the main internal area was little more than a storage space, and its days as a venue fit for hire were far behind it.
Since then, the future of the pavilion has been hotly debated, never more so than in 2022 when we looked to convert it into a depot for our environmental operations – plans which were ultimately superseded by an extension to our office site in Westcroft.
Notwithstanding essential repairs and maintenance, work began in earnest in 2024 with the aim of entering a long-term lease of the building to a local sports club. As we approached completion, however, it became clear that the best future for North Furzton Pavilion was to join our network of thriving community centres, actively serving the people of Milton Keynes!
Situated alongside the pitch on Lynmouth Crescent, next door to a parish play area and overlooking Furzton Lake, the pavilion has been a much-missed community asset, and we are proud that it is finally ready to make its return.
The revival of North Furzton Pavilion brings our estate to a total of 8 venues, including 7 sports pitches, 7 party rooms, 3 versatile mid-sized rooms, 3 meeting rooms and 1 full-sized sports hall.
