Community breathes new life into local orchard

Time and time again, the people of the parish do themselves proud.  Last weekend, we were delighted to see so many volunteers come to Hengistbury Lane Orchard to help plant new fruit trees.  These trees add diversity to the already thriving orchard, and will provide delicious fresh fruit for decades to come.

What’s more, it always tastes better when you’ve grown it yourself!

Working together with Community Trees MK, Milton Keynes City Council Landscape Department and the International Tree Foundation, we sourced and planted 28 saplings:

• 6 conference pear
• 6 Victoria plum
• 6 Laxton’s superb apple
• 6 Cox’s orange pippin apple
• 2 Morello cherry
• 2 King James mulberry

We would like to extend an enormous thank-you to everyone who got stuck in.  We hope to see you next time, as we will keep planting trees all over the parish area!
