The newest member of the Parish Council network

We are pleased to announce we have taken ownership of South Furzton Pavilion on Blackmoor Gate.

If you have been following our updates for a while, you will know that over the past few years we have successfully taken over management of several community facilities from Milton Keynes City Council. We are proud and excited to add South Furzton Meeting Place to our collection.

Just as with all halls we have taken on, we have begun a programme of upgrades to make the building as inviting as the rest of our venues, with safety and security the top priorities.

New fire and intruder alarms and CCTV systems will be installed in the next few days, followed by a new public Wi-Fi connection. We will clear tidy up the outdoor spaces and look to redecorate inside and out. In due course, we will improve the condition of the trees, shrubs and garden.

With a generous indoor space and two outdoor areas to the rear. We look forward to welcoming new businesses, charities and community groups into the hall on a regular basis, and of course we will work with the existing users to accommodate their continued use of the building where possible.

South Furzton Meeting Place main hall

Five years ago, the Parish Council ran Emerson Valley Community Centre and had just opened the doors of the newly built Garthwaite Pavilion on Shenley Brook End. We are now proud to now lay claim to eight community venues, including seven sports pitches, six party rooms, three smaller rooms, three meeting rooms, and one full-sized sports hall.

With no plans to take over any more facilities, the transfer of South Furzton Meeting Place marks the end of a process which has called for the collaboration of every officer and member of the Parish Council, along with numerous departments and councillors at MKCC over several years.

We are grateful to everyone who has been involved, and we look forward to continuing to improve our facilities for the benefit of the parish and the city.
