Introducing: Councillor Sherry Gladwin
On 29th July 2024, I was co-opted by Shenley Brook End & Tattenhoe Parish Council and became the councillor for Shenley Lodge.
I am really excited about the role and the opportunity to serve the community. I have lived with my husband in Milton Keynes for the past 38 years, enjoyed the beautiful green spaces and found the city to be a wonderful, safe place to bring up our two children, who are now fabulous adults.
I have always been a public servant and have a background in youth work and education. I spent many years in education as a secondary school teacher before working through school leadership and management to become headteacher of a secondary school.
Education has been a calling since I was a young girl, and for the most part, my career has been dedicated to working in some of the most challenging schools in the country and serving communities facing high levels of deprivation. My motivation has always been one of improving the life chances of children and young people particularly the life chances of the most vulnerable young people in society.
Since leaving headship, my commitment to public service continued through my role as a Lead Ofsted Inspector where I inspected nurseries through to sixth form, School Improvement Partner providing advice and support to school leaders, Lead Facilitator for leadership training, Coach, Mentor and Assessor for school leaders.
My core values of integrity, accountability, honesty, trust and respect drive my desire to collaborate with the local community; establish a respectful open dialogue between all groups of peoples; develop shared values; and build confidence and trust to promote good community cohesion.
